Brown Pelican

I found this pelican down along the ocean in La Jolla in Southern California. The bird was nesting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He/she wasn't very far from where I was at but didn't seem to be worried about my presence. I'm guessing that it may have been a female laying on her eggs?

Brown Pelican

This is a closeup image of a Brown Pelican as it nested near the edge of a cliff on the California Coast near La Jolla.
I believe this is a female that was likely keeping her eggs warm as she didn't stir when a came upon her.
The top right hand corner of the image is the yellow head of the bird. The birds beak starts at the top of the image and flows down to the bottom center.
The Pelican is laying down and is somewhat curled up. Her feathers go off in many different directions.
