Sometimes my wife thinks I make snap decisions on a purchase. For example, we have a large electric water heater. Those are expensive to run, and they have a tank, thus wasting electricity and keeping water hot if we want it. Anyway, I'm looking at instantaneous heaters and researching the alternatives. I'll spend many hours doing this. Then I'll bring it up. I'll have multiple alternatives established. It's not a snap decision, rather well thought out and researched.
@RegGuy That seems like a good plan. I think tankless water heaters were a bit unreliable some years ago. But I believe they have improved. And, maybe their prices have come down a bit. Please share what you learn from your research.
@JosephMeyer We had one in our FL home for 11 years. It was terrific. Mostly you need to be sure you get one that has the capacity to give you the temperature rise and flow rate to match your worst case scenario for low water temp. For example: if your coldest water is 40 degrees and you want 120 degree water to two showers you'll need a unit that can give you 80 degree rise at 5 gallons per minute. I'll write more on what I find.
