That gets pretty tiring pretty quickly. Take care.

Yes, it's really annoying and difficult. Thankfully I'm off work, so that's a good thing, even though I can't drive, so that's somewhat limiting.

How long for it to heal, & are you going nuts with boredom?
@Susan60 @jacquiharper @neurodiversity
The recommendation is 6 weeks, so I've another 4 to go. And not bored yet. I have plenty of things I'm giving serious thought about doing 😆
@pathfinder @Susan60 @jacquiharper @neurodiversity I remember you were wishing for more time off recently (in the past few months) - maybe not the way you would have imagined it but what a lovely stretch of time.

I could have lived without having to do everything one-handed, which is far harder than you might think, and not being able to drive, whilst mostly being too far away from anything to walk there. But, yes, it is a really nice consequence. It's a bit like being back in the lockdowns, which was a time I loved, if not the reason for it.

I had to have some time off with a foot injury after stumbling on some uneven pavement at work during my first year of teaching. I think that time off saved my sanity & my teaching career. When they offered me another contract at the end of the year, I turned it down in spite of not having another job. I did get one at another school, also pretty tough, but where basically decent working class kids set the behaviour levels. The previous one would’ve totally burnt me out. Apart from anything else, there were the empathy demands for kids from awfully dysfunctional families. Heartbreaking.

Sometimes life rewards us with what we need. Which, of course, is different from what we think we may want and far better for it.
