Does anyone have a feed of official prominent news sources that post on Mastodon.
@SwiftOnSecurity Ars Technica and ProPublica does
@SwiftOnSecurity I just follow #laffy
@SwiftOnSecurity there is @lemonde from France
@SwiftOnSecurity you'd have to translate @NOSRSS
HI @SwiftOnSecurity! Here is a list of federated Flipboard accounts:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iUFTo6rPvhqzCReLaM1c6-xUKRuBVqlZVStZl9Al-EU/edit.
To see publishers that are active themselves in the fediverse, not via Flipboard, you can take a look at @mho's spreadsheet:
We also share stories from some of those newsrooms every week using the #NewstodonFriday hashtag.
@SwiftOnSecurity
Many German public news is on here. Most prominently, @tagesschau
Most are exclusively German though.
And @derpostillon of course
@SwiftOnSecurity
Some might be at https://w.wiki/Cghb
@SwiftOnSecurity ok so here’s a weird one for you: The Japan Times @thejapantimes
They’re surprisingly good, and in English.
Here is also a self updating list of more than 1000 (verified) accounts from journalists on #Mastodon. Even sorted by (last) activity..
@Flipboard boosted thank you
@SwiftOnSecurity @Flipboard Also, please check out https://verifiedjournalist.org/ where thousands of journalists are independently verified :)
Wow, thanks for your list, that's very helpful! Maybe I'll built a bot to highlight some every day. Just like @MediaOnMastodon does for my list.
@SwiftOnSecurity @BBCNews here's the official list of the BBC ones from the BBC themselves:

@SwiftOnSecurity Flipboard is a professional news aggregation service, they used to be the default news provider on Samsung's launcher before Google news.
I believe every one of their fedi accounts just mirrors the stories from each source that makes it through.
@SwiftOnSecurity So many people have replied, including Flipboard's own Mastadon service, so I can only add that in hunting down the answer to this question I found an article with a discussion of the history: https://techcrunch.com/2024/11/07/with-this-latest-deal-flipboard-looks-to-build-a-news-ecosystem-beyond-x/
@SwiftOnSecurity That's one of the cool things about @Flipboard being federated
