Masters of the Air is overproduced, over-CGI’d, over-color-graded Emmy bait
It's a bad show. I wanted to love it, but it's just not good.

@arstechnica Counterpoint: I’ve enjoyed the first two episodes.
@arstechnica I thought it was awful. Glad I'm not alone.
@arstechnica I beg to differ…
I can't say it's bad, though he's right about too much CGI. (Really, though, the story requires quite a bit.)
But it so far has not even approached the immediate viewer immersion we all experienced with Band of Brothers. So:
1. No, so far it has not lived up to the hype.
2. It's still entertaining.
@arstechnica I watched the first episode last night. I don't really feel a connection to the main characters like I did in Band of Brothers and the Pacific. I also wish they'd started earlier in the timeline and explained the planes and the missions more. I'm going to continue and see what happens.
@arstechnica the book was meh. I just want someone to do A Higher Call, and do a great job.
So far, I've like it.
@arstechnica @Catelli I’ll give a bit more time, myself, because if the pedigree. But for me the first two episode aren’t nearly as gripping as either The Dam Busters or Twelve O’Clock High.
@arstechnica Yeah, it’s pretty bad. The non-combat scenes were quite boring. The characters feel off putting. Felt like a retelling of Memphis Bell, but with more CGI and more bleh scenes. Hanging in there because of the pedigree of Tom/Stephen, but yeah, not awesome.
