@renchap @derek @jaz This is a great read and I like the idea of "federating out" even components of mastodon. Do you think that it'd be a "faster time to market" to bake this model into the product or to develop a simple csam scanner feature directly into mastodon requiring only a PhotoDNA API key during setup?
@renchap @jaz Will start reading your ideas and agreed, would need a good design before any implementation. Also, hi @jaz - this is an issue near to my heart (and part of why my company exists - to protect kids from the evils of big tech and specifically create safe places for kids that need social media. How can we help? What do you need?

We're not developers, but might be able to help fund/promote a type of hook/API call or maybe even a PhotoDNA account for smaller instances to use that helps auto report to #ncmec ... reach out if interested.
